Postpartum, Serena Williams Is Lifting Like An Absolute Beast

Serena Williams is working out, postpartum

Tennis superstar Serena Williams isn’t slowed by motherhood. Serena has resumed her exercise routine after baby #2 and is documenting her accomplishments on Instagram.

Serena, 42, claimed she was “getting back in the swing of things” in a new gym IG clip, and her superb weighted squats suggest she has rediscovered her footing. Elite athlete ICYDK and her husband, Alexis Ohanian, have two daughters: 6-year-old Olympia and 5-month-old Adira, born in August 2023.

Serena Williams performs severe weighted squats with a bar on her shoulders in the video, targeting her lower back, glutes, and hamstrings. Serena says it’s not her regular bar weight, but it’s a starting point until she’s “back where [she] needs to be.”

Naturally, her friends, admirers, and followers loved the uplifting video and wrote plenty of supporting comments. “The Queen is always the best ????❤️,” said a follower. “Forever THE QUEEN! ❤️,” said another. A third said, “Get it Serena!!!”

After giving birth, Serena has been slowly getting back into exercise, and she just shared a supermom experience while pilates. Serena did side squats on her reformer with a baby pack in an Instagram video. A reformer is a Pilates tool for low-impact strengthening. Serena kept the carrier in case Adria woke up from her slumber.

Serena discussed part of her tennis season routines at a MasterClass, even though she is not yet dominating tennis.

“I train hard. My body almost breaks down, she remarked. That way, when I start, I’m ready for anything and for eight to nine months of the season. In midseason, I have another tough training session.”

Serena must get into cardiac form to play four hours straight. As she said in the Masterclass, Serena loves to be ready. The tennis star normally runs or bikes to keep her heart rate up, although she’ll dance once in a while.

“I also started dancing, because after running for 20 minutes or 30 minutes, I just get bored,” Serena said. Dance may still condition you, but it’s pleasant.

Serena likes Tonal home workout equipment and invests in it. The firm develops interactive displays with resistance for at-home training. Serena makes exercising family-friendly. In her Instagram Story from her home gym, Serena displayed Olympia’s setup.

“My little baby got some equipment,” Serena said in the video. “She has an elliptical, and then the Stairmaster or treadmill, and then she has a little bike.” The little gear is beautiful.

Serena eats well to keep up with her hectic lifestyle!

Eat to live is my mentality. She told Women’s Health. “I want to have a healthy lifestyle and, so you know, [I’m eating] a lot of greens and mostly plant-based lately, just super healthy stuff.”
