Pass-Rusher Charles Omenihu of The Chiefs Has Ruptured His ACL

According to several sources, defensive end Charles Omenihu suffered an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) tear during Sunday’s AFC Championship Game. As a result, he will not be able to participate in Super Bowl LVIII against the San Francisco 49ers, his former team during the game.

At first glance, it seemed as though Omenihu had confirmed the news by posting an emoji of a broken heart on his X account.

Although he was suspended for the first six games of the season due to an NFL ban, Omenihu finished the season with a career-high seven sacks. This was his first season with the Chiefs. A strip sack of Lamar Jackson, the quarterback for the Baltimore Ravens, was one of the things he accomplished on Sunday before he left with the injury.

As a result of a triceps injury, defensive lineman Derrick Nnadi, who was scheduled to start for the Chiefs against the Ravens, was placed on injured reserve before to the game. Similarly, Nnadi will not participate in the Super Bowl.

After spending four seasons in the National Football League with the Houston Texans and the San Francisco 49ers, Omenihu, who is now 26 years old, signed with the Chiefs as a free agent. A total of 11.5 sacks were recorded by Omenihu over those seasons, with 4.5 of those sacks coming from the 49ers in 2022.
