The Endometriosis Diagnosis of Olivia Culpo and Her Experiences

Olivia Culpo and her Endometriosis diagnosis

After announcing her endometriosis diagnosis with her fans in 2020, model and Instagram influencer Olivia Culpo has been open about her battle and advocated for other women in agony.

“I’ve never publicly said this before but I have endometriosis,” she said in an August 2020 Instagram Story over a video of herself on a couch with a water bottle on her abdomen. Known as the worst cramps/periods. Do any readers have Endo? No fun.”

The Office on Women’s Health defines endometriosis as tissue growing outside the uterus. Infertility, stomach difficulties, unpleasant cramps, bleeding, and spotting between periods might result. The OWS estimates it affects almost 11% of women.

Olivia said in Instagram Stories that she read numerous fan DMs and was amazed that many could relate. “I can’t believe that a lot of you also suffer from endometriosis,” stated. “It is so not fun, very painful.”

Following surgery, she posted photos on Instagram, including one of her scars. “I had endometriosis surgery yesterday ❤️ “Not glamorous, but I needed to share this to raise awareness of this disease,” she captioned it. “Endometriosis occurs when uterine lining tissue grows in other parts of the body, causing pain.”

She explained how the illness affects her fertility, health, and happiness.

It’s horribly painful and virtually hard to spot during an ultrasound (unless you have endometrioma/chocolate cysts on your ovaries, like me). I suffered from period pain for years and was misdiagnosed by physicians. ‘Take Tylenol every day,’ ‘ultrasound seems okay,’ ‘I think you need to relax more, periods are usually unpleasant,’ etc. Because many Endos are familiar with these diseases, I am enthusiastic about this.”

Olivia told MedlinePlus three years after surgery that she’s “so much better since my surgery.” She said she couldn’t go to work without “excruciating pain,” and her condition made flying travel impossible before the treatment. Olivia would have to ball up in her seat until the plane landed.

“After that pain subsided, my world opened up. “I felt like I got my life back,” she told the pub. Birth control has helped me a lot. Though I’m not pain-free, I can accomplish everything.”

On her Instagram story, she stated, “Endometriosis never ‘goes away’ but there are many ways to suppress the disease and painful symptoms”. “If you or someone you know thinks you have endometriosis, see a trusted doctor and get a second or third opinion!”

Olivia further stressed the need of choosing a knowledgeable surgeon to avoid “re-do [surgery] a bunch of times” and achieve speedier pain relief. The post ended with “I love you guys!” I am always here for you and pleased to help some of you through this terrible situation.”

Olivia, who is engaged to NFL great Christian McCaffrey, opened up about her future goals when a follower wondered if endometriosis may impair her fertility. “All the time because endometriosis!” she said. “I just pray and trust God’s plan.”
