Ingredients

  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1/4 cup sweetened condensed milk
  • 2 tbsps sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 1/4 tbsps dry yeast
  • 3 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup chopped scallions or spring onions
  • 1 large egg

Directions

  • Mix wet ingredients in a medium sized bowl. Add dry yeast.
  • Add flour and salt. Use a spatula to combine. Mix until the flour is mostly absorbed and soft dough forms.
  • Knead the softened butter into the dough until elastic.
  • Place into a greased bowl and let rise for 1 to 2 hours until the dough doubles in size.
  • Cut dough in half. Scatter some scallions onto the table. Roll the dough.
  • Cut into 6 pieces and place the bread into a 7" x 4" loaf pan. The pieces should be standing vertically and should look like a loaf with cuts in it. Repeat this for the other half of dough.
  • Let it rise for 45 minutes then egg wash. Bake at pre-heated oven at 350°F for 20-25 minutes until golden.
