After blacking out at BravoCon, Shep Rose Says He’s at a “Crossroads”

After blacking out at BravoCon 2023, Shep Rose was forced to address his drinking issues.

“I am at a crossroads. I was out of control and intoxicated in Las Vegas. “I scared the s-t out of me,” Shep Rose, 44, told his castmates during part one of the Southern Charm reunion, which aired Thursday, January 11. “I was blacked out. “I can’t even tell you what happened at BravoCon.”

Host Andy Cohen described Austen Kroll “truly trying to take care” of Shep over the November 2023 weekend, to which Austen, 36, said, “That’s not the first time.

Shep acknowledged that he “appreciates” Austen’s assistance and stated that he has since had a “talk” with his “close friends” back home about his problems.

Craig Conover and Austen, who are both close to Shep, stated that they were asked but declined to attend Shep’s “Come to Jesus” conversation after suffering with all of his ups and downs for years.

“This road you’re on terminates at a precipice. I can’t be in that automobile any longer. “That’s why I didn’t attend that meeting,” Craig, 34, said. “After BravoCon, it’s dark, but I was like, ‘He’s going to ruin his life and I have to be OK with that because we’ve been here before.'”

Shep felt defensive, telling Craig and Austen that they “don’t owe me anything,” prompting the reality stars to assure him that they had his back.

“I am your best buddy. I am here, guy. I’ve been there for you,” Austen stated, to which Shep answered, “I’d appreciate your support and assistance at any moment.” I hear you. I’m truly in the mindset of, ‘I need to make some huge changes.'”

Shep stated that after BravoCon, he realized, “I had nothing. I wondered, ‘Who am I? How am I of any use to anyone? “You’re hurting yourself, bro.” He stated that after “going hard” for decades on the party scene, he feels like, “My body and mind are telling me, ‘No, no, sir.'” “I can’t do it like I used to.”

Shep Rose said that he had not totally stopped drinking. “I don’t drink booze. I do not drink shots. “I just drink beer,” he explained.

Craig admitted that he was in the same situation a few years ago, saying, “I haven’t consumed liquor in two years, but I needed to make a big shift this summer. “I’m addicted to that stuff.”

The creator of Sewing Down South confessed that seeing Shep get drunk repeatedly “was sad.” Craig stated that he was “sorry” for being harsh on Shep and that he loved him. Shep confirmed that he had heard Craig, saying, “I’m going to follow your lead.”

Taylor Ann Green, Shep’s ex-girlfriend, also commented on his recovery, stating, “It makes me happy to hear all of this.” I know the genuine Shep. He’s a great, compassionate, and intelligent human being.

Shep also admitted in the show that his adultery and drinking played a role in his and Taylor’s July 2022 breakup. However, he believes the TV cameras made everything worse.

“We’d probably be married,” Shep said when asked whether the program damaged their romance. “Because I would be less distracted.” I’d be a different person. “I would say, ‘I met someone I really care about, and this is it.'”

Cohen, 55, admitted that shooting Southern Charm may no longer be “healthy” for Shep, but he remains certain that he “can do it” and conquer his issues even in front of the cameras. “Stay tuned,” Shep teased.
