Normally, when I apply makeup, I am pleased with the results. My skin appears even, my flaws are hidden, and I’m ready to face the world. Lately, I’ve felt like my makeup was highlighting the things I disliked about my skin: uneven texture and vellus hair. Sure, nobody else noticed (I believe), but it troubled me. After a few days of discomfort, I scheduled a dermaplaning facial. Then, I noticed Alix Earle and her Amazon Prime Day recommendations, which featured a cheap dermaplaning tool that I just had to get in the hopes of canceling my facial appointment.
The Kitsch Dermaplaning Tool exfoliates the skin, removes undesirable face hair, and shapes brows. Exfoliation is always a priority for me because I have greasy skin. Getting rid of dead skin cells and clearing up the pores is all I need to ensure that my favorite skincare products absorb swiftly and efficiently.
I’ve had dermaplaning facials and enjoy them, but I don’t always have the time or money to make it a regular occurrence. I’d never dermaplaned my skin at home before, but Alix’s product advice prompted me to try it.
I used this Kitsch Dermaplaning Tool after showering since I wanted my pores to be open and ready for skincare. The manufacturer recommends using your preferred serum, but I chose a moisturizing face oil. I carefully pulled my skin taut and shaved downward down the grain of my flesh. It didn’t hurt, and seeing the small hairs and dead skin on the blade gave me immediate joy. I worked slowly and carefully, yet it only took about five minutes to cover my entire face. My face immediately felt wonderfully smooth. Then I used my favorite serum and moisturizer, which absorbed much more quickly than usual.
When I woke up the next morning, I felt like myself. My skin looked better than normal, and I used all of my usual creams. The Kitsch Dermaplaning Tool was the sole new element to the regimen.
Then it was time for the big test: applying cosmetics. My foundation appeared equal, and I didn’t notice any of the little hairs that had so upset me. I was sold.
I cancelled my dermaplaning facial. That is not to say that I will not book them in the future; but, I will save money by booking them less regularly, and I will have these tools in my arsenal for skincare “emergencies.”
