Snack like the ancients with Pasteli, the original Greek sesame bars! These crunchy, honey-sweetened treats are packed with sesame seeds and simple, wholesome flavor. A deliciously timeless snack that’s both nutritious and satisfying!
INGREDIENTS
1-2 teaspoons lemon zest
¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon
200 g (7 oz) sesame seeds
200 g (7 oz) good quality (Greek) honey
a pinch of salt
INSTRUCTIONS
1. Line a pan with parchment paper and set aside.
2. Toast sesame seeds in a nonstick pan until golden, then set aside. In the same pan, heat honey over medium until it bubbles. Add the toasted seeds and remaining ingredients, stirring until thickened (about 5-6 minutes).
3. Pour the mixture into the prepared pan and spread evenly with a spoon. Place parchment paper on top and press to flatten. Let it cool for 15-20 minutes, then cut into bars or squares.
4. Store in an airtight container with parchment between pieces. Enjoy!
