Camila Cabello didn’t consider herself beautiful as a child, until she discovered the joy in it.
The singer-songwriter and brand ambassador opened up about her beauty experience ahead of the L’Oréal Paris Women of Worth event on November 16.
“It’s actually changed a lot.” “Beauty was the last thing on my mind when I was younger and started working.”
“Being in an immigrant family … it felt frivolous to me,” Cabello goes on to say. “Now I’m thinking, ‘No, it’s just an expression of joy and what it’s like to be alive.'” “I’m currently obsessed with beauty. It’s just so much fun.”
Sinuhe Cabello, the “Havana” singer’s mother, was “a big inspiration” for her by giving her beauty tips — and always being honest.
“She’ll say, ‘Your whole vibe is amazing, but you’ve got to fix that part.'” For her, it’s always been about how looking good helps you feel better about yourself. “It’s not something frivolous or shallow,” she explains. “It makes you feel better about yourself.” That is correct.”
Cabello discusses what makes her feel most empowered, in addition to looking and feeling amazing.
“When I feel the most connected to myself, when I feel aware about what my feelings are, when I feel like I’m just really in tune with myself,” she sings in Familia. “For example, if I’m tired and mindlessly scrolling through my phone, I stop and check in with myself.” ‘OK, am I doing this because I’m anxious?’ I think. ‘Do I get a lonely feeling?'”
It’s the first time Cabello and her other ambassadors Kendall Jenner, Eva Longoria, Helen Mirren, and Andie MacDowell have walked the runway together since the L’Oréal Paris presentation on the Eiffel Tower’s Esplanade during Paris Fashion Week.
“It just feels like we’re cute,” she captioned a video of herself strutting down the runway on Instagram. “thank you for surrounding me w the most supportive amazing girls at these events @lorealparis ???? luv you.”
