“Bronny will have a final evaluation with USC staff this week, resume practice next week, and return to games soon after,” a spokesperson for the James family stated.
Bronny James, the USC basketball star, has been authorized to return to the court after suffering a cardiac attack in July.
Doctors diagnosed the 19-year-old son of NBA icon LeBron James with “an anatomically and functionally significant congenital heart defect” after he slipped into cardiac arrest during a basketball exercise at the Southern California institution on July 24.
In a statement made on Thursday, a spokesman for the James family stated Bronny will return to court shortly.
“Bronny James’ doctors have cleared him to play basketball again.” Bronny will undergo a final evaluation with USC personnel this week, return to practice next week, and play in games soon after,” according to the release.
Bronny was unable to participate in the initial months of practice alongside his USC teammates, as well as the first weeks of games.
USC’s current season record without Bronny is five wins and two defeats.
The James family also thanked fans and friends for their support while Bronny healed in a statement released on Thursday.
“The James family wishes to thank the incredible medical team, the entire USC community, and especially the many friends, family, and fans for their love and support.” “Keep fighting!”
LeBron sent a post on Twitter, now known as X, after his kid was discharged from Cedars Sinai on July 27, saying he wanted to “thank the countless people sending my family love and prayers.”
“We feel you, and I’m so grateful,” he said on Twitter. “Everyone is doing fantastic. We have our family safe and well, and we can sense your love. We’ll have more to say when we’re ready, but I just wanted to thank everyone for their support! #JamesGang.”
LeBron remarked in May that the day his kid committed to play basketball for USC was “one of the best days of my life.”
“First and foremost, congrats to Bronny on his decision. “I’m super proud of him, and our family is proud of him,” LeBron said at the time on Spectrum SportsNet.
“It’s even more special to me because it’s the first time someone from my family has gone to college.” Obviously, I did not attend college.”
“It’s just a proud moment to see my son go to college, and he’s the first in my family to go to college,” he stated. “I’m super proud, super emotional, and super excited and happy for his journey,” he said.
