Say hello to Ful Mudammas, the Middle Eastern comfort dish that’s as hearty as it is flavorful! Made with tender fava beans, garlic, and lemon, this savory, spiced dip is perfect for scooping up with warm pita. It’s simple, delicious, and bursting with bold flavors that’ll keep you coming back for more!

INGREDIENTS

1 to 2 hot peppers, chopped
½ to 1 teaspoon ground cumin
2 garlic cloves, chopped
2 cans plain fava beans, 13 to 15 ounces each can
1 large lemon
Extra virgin olive oil, Early Harvest
1 cup chopped parsley
1 tomato, diced
Warm pita bread
Sliced tomatoes
Sliced cucumbers
Green onions
Olives
½ cup water
Kosher salt

INSTRUCTIONS

1. Add the fava beans and ½ cup of water to a cast iron skillet or saucepan. Heat over medium-high, seasoning with kosher salt and cumin.
2. Mash the fava beans with a potato masher or fork. In a mortar and pestle, smash the hot peppers and garlic together. Mix in the juice of one lemon.
3. Pour the garlic and hot pepper mixture over the mashed fava beans, and drizzle generously with extra virgin olive oil.
4. Top with chopped parsley, diced tomatoes, and extra slices of hot peppers if desired. Serve with pita bread, sliced veggies, and olives
