Jennifer Love Hewitt said that she faced personal hardships in 2023, while keeping her troubles private: “This year I went through a lot no one knew about.”

Jennifer Love Hewitt is speaking up about a trying year.

The Party of Five star said that she had some personal issues in 2023 that she chose not to discuss publicly.

In honor of New Year’s, Hewitt said on Instagram, “This year I went through a lot that no one knew about.” “And was grateful for that privacy.”

While keeping the specifics confidential, the Ghost Whisperer alum stated that she “was forced to have more faith than normal” and “sat deeper in grief and was able to let more go.”

She claimed she spent the year praying and manifesting and eventually understood that “it’s okay to take time for myself mentally, physically, and emotionally.”

Hewitt also sensed the presence of her mother, Patricia Hewitt, who died of cancer in 2012.

“Felt my mom around us and saw signs that she was,” the 44-year-old explained. “Said goodbye to things that don’t serve positivity in my life and made room for lots of good things in 2024.”

Despite the hardship, Hewitt had some happy times in 2023, particularly with her children Autumn James, 10, Atticus James, 8, and Aidan James, 2, whom she shares with husband Brian Hallisay.

“I had the greatest time being a mommy at home with my kids,” she said in a statement. “It’s been ten years with my boyfriend. I’ve got a few tattoos. And I honestly let everything I needed to learn to educate me. So, here I am. Happy, lucky, appreciative, and hopeful. I’m hoping that our world improves this year and that everyone has less suffering, fear, and sadness. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!”

Hewitt, who previously addressed criticism that she no longer looks like herself, complemented the tweet with a makeup-free photo of herself in a black crewneck as she rung in 2024.
