Kate Micucci, an actress and comedian, was taken aback by her recent health crisis.
“Good day, everyone. This is not a TikTok; rather, it is a ‘Sick Tok.’ “I’m in the hospital, but it’s because I had lung cancer surgery yesterday,” Micucci, 43, explained in a recent TikTok video shot from her hospital bed. “They caught it very early on.” It’s strange since I’ve never smoked a cigarette in my life, so it came as a surprise, but I suppose it occurs.”
Micucci, best known for her role as Lucy on The Big Bang Theory and as half of the musical duo Garfunkel and Oates with Riki Lindhome, said she’s “all good” after surgery, owing in part to physicians discovering the disease at an early stage.
“It’s been a bit of a journey, and I’ll probably be moving slowly for a few weeks, but then I’ll be right back at it.” “I can’t wait to paint more, which I’ll be doing soon, I think,” she added, before joking, “Why am I still talking?” Because I’m high.”
Micucci’s tweet included a snapshot of herself lying in bed clutching a cereal box and a banana, as well as a video of her going about the hospital in a robe with her IV drip. “Woo hoo!” she yelled as she strolled along a corridor. “I gotta say, the artwork here is pretty nice.”
Several followers expressed their support for the celebrity in the TikTok comments. “First and foremost, I’m delighted you’re OK, be strong, be you a joyful person, for all of us,” one user said, while another added, “National Treasure Kate Micucci… Feel well soon!!!!”
“Get well soon best wishes and good luck with your recovery,” fellow comic Tom Green commented. “Thank you, Tom!” Micucci wrote in response to his good remarks.
Micucci hasn’t let her recent health scare prevent her from enjoying the holidays. Prior to her cancer diagnosis, she released a sped-up version of her 2018 Christmas single, “You Got a Bike.”
“It’s a perfect song to rock out to at your holiday parties,” she captioned an Instagram snap of the song’s cover art, which features a childhood shot of herself riding a bike, on Friday, December 8. “Also, this photo… I had braids until I was 14 years old. In the shot, I’m ten years old. I asked my mother to photograph it so I could have a headshot to present to a talent agency. I lived in a little village in Pennsylvania, but I had huge dreams.”
Micucci has amassed over 150 acting credits, including extensive voiceover work, since making her television debut in a 2006 episode of Malcolm in the Middle. Micucci has been on television in series and films such as Scrubs, When in Rome, ‘Til Death, Raising Hope, and Mom, in addition to playing one of Raj’s (Kunal Nayyar) love interests on The Big Bang Theory for eight episodes.
Fans may recall Micucci’s voice from a variety of iconic cartoon roles, including Velma Dinkley in Scooby Doo and Webby Vanderquack in DuckTales. She and Lindhome, 44, co-founded Garfunkel and Oates in 2007. Their self-titled TV program aired on IFC for one season in 2014.
