King Charles III has been released from the hospital and is resting at home following a procedure to treat an enlarged prostate.
Buckingham Palace reported that the Monarch has returned home following a routine procedure for an enlarged prostate at The London Clinic over the weekend.
“His Majesty would like to thank the medical team and all those involved in supporting his hospital visit,” the Palace stated in a statement issued on Jan. 29, “and is grateful for all the kind messages he has received in recent days.”
Despite his return home, the 75-year-old will not attend royal engagements while he continues to heal, according to the Palace, which added that Charles “has rescheduled forthcoming public engagements to allow for a period of private recuperation.”
The Monarch’s operation was initially reported on January 17, with the Palace stating that “His Majesty’s condition is benign and he will attend hospital next week for a corrective procedure.”
The King isn’t the only royal recovering from recent surgery; Kate Middleton was also released from the same hospital after undergoing stomach surgery.
“She is making good progress,” Kensington Palace said in a Jan. 29 statement. “The Prince and Princess desire to express their heartfelt gratitude to the whole team at The London Clinic, particularly the dedicated nursing staff, for the care they have offered. The Wales family is appreciative for the kind wishes they have received from all across the world.
In fact, throughout their various hospital stints, Charles made sure to pay his daughter-in-law a visit. And, of course, the 42-year-old’s husband, Prince William, was pictured following his own visit.
While Kate—who has Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, 8, and Prince Louis, 5, with the Prince of Wales—is out of the hospital and doing well, it may be a while before fans see her out and about.
After all, Kensington Palace has stated that “based on the current medical advice, she is unlikely to return to public duties until after Easter.”
But, once she is able to, Kate will resume her royal duties.
“The Princess of Wales wishes to apologize to all those concerned for the fact that she has to postpone her upcoming engagements,” the Palace said in a statement. “She looks forward to reinstating as many as possible, as soon as possible.”
