Lindsey Vonn Discusses Her Difficult Surgery and Health Updates

Lindsey Vonn updates regarding her health

Lindsey Vonn isn’t hesitant to be open with her fans about the ups and downs of her current health battle.

The former Olympic skier, Lindsey Vonn, has had three knee operations since her retirement in 2019, and while she acknowledges how difficult it has been, she refuses to let her troubles bring her down. The 39-year-old posted photographs of her most recent operation along with an encouraging message.

“I’ve been beaten and shattered, but I’ve always emerged stronger. Regardless of how many times I fell, I always got back up. Lindsey commented, “I didn’t do it alone,” underneath a carousel of photographs during her recuperation.

Lindsey had one knee surgery to assist her heal from the “damage” caused by her racing career. Lindsey is sitting in a wheelchair, sipping a drink, and clutching two pizza boxes post-op. She gives a thumbs up to the camera.

“Hopefully, this operation will be a major step forward for me in the long run. We still have work to do, and most likely another operation, but I’m hoping this will assist me for a while,” she explained at the time.

The road to surgery and recuperation has been long for the elite athlete. Lindsey crashed while exercising in Colorado in November 2018 and “completely tore” her LCL, according to The New York Times. The lateral collateral ligament (LCL) is a band of tissue that links your thigh and lower leg bones. The Mayo Clinic states that any tear can cause severe swelling, discomfort, and difficulty walking.

She didn’t get the damage treated straight away because she had previously scheduled engagements and “didn’t want to let anyone down,” she told the Times. Unfortunately, this resulted in more injury to her knee, Lindsey said on Instagram. According to the Mayo Clinic, by the time the ski star underwent surgery, she had another meniscus tear and required chondroplasty, a technique that helps rebuild torn cartilage in a joint.

Lindsey stated in October 2023 that she underwent a prep surgery in preparation for a knee replacement in the spring. It is unknown whether Lindsey’s most recent operation was for a knee replacement or whether she is recovering from anything else. But one thing is certain: she has a cheerful outlook.

Lindsey previously stated in her memoir, Rise, that she had suffered with depression since she was a child and had previously utilized skiing as a coping strategy, but her injuries rendered this difficult. She revealed that when she is feeling depressed, she turns to blogging and napping for self-care.

“There was so much going on that in the afternoons, I wanted to disengage. “Sleeping was one of the few times I could just shut my brain off and recover,” she told MSNBC after the book arrived.

Lindsey also stated that walking her dogs outside has been quite beneficial in getting her up and outside every day.

Lindsey, you are such a star!
