According to the findings of a recent study, about one in five patients suffer from the inability to maintain the weight loss that they achieved with the assistance of the medication.
Users of diabetic drugs such as Ozempic and Wegovy, which soared in popularity by serving as a weight-loss aid, found that 17.7% of them regained all of their weight, if not more, when they stopped using it, contrary to what was revealed in a paper that was published on Epic Research.
Each of the 20,274 individuals who were researched and watched one year after they had stopped using treatments like the semaglutide Ozempic lost at least five pounds while they were using these medications.
Liraglutide injections, such as Saxenda, were responsible for the same side effects for 18.7% of patients.
Artemis Bayandor, a previous user of Wegovy who is now 41 years old, is quoted as saying to The Messenger, “The weight started coming on like never before.”
After first losing 15 pounds before giving up, she eventually reached her heaviest peak at 246 pounds and had an incredibly intense hunger, which is something that the drugs work to curb.
“I was unable to stop eating. In addition, I have never been like that. It was really hungry. According to her, “the way it felt was absolutely insane.”
That was terrible, and it is still terrible.
On the other hand, according to the findings of the research, a two-thirds majority of users who stopped taking either semaglutide or liraglutide for a year were able to sustain the weight reduction that they had begun under the influence of the injections.
Additionally, 56.2% of patients were able to keep their weight the same at the time of stopping, or they proceeded to lose weight after starting the program.
There were 17,733 people who were studied who had lost at least 5 pounds while using liraglutide before they stopped using it. Of those individuals, 55.7% either kept the same weight or proceeded to lose weight.
It was recently discovered via study that was unrelated to the topic that Ozempic might also be used as a prophylactic measure against liver cancer for some diabetic people.
