Nick Carter is now giving his piece on his sister Bobbie Jean Carter’s sudden death after experiencing a rough Christmas season with the help of family and friends.
Bobbie Jean died on December 23, 2023, at the age of 41, just over a year after her younger brother Aaron Carter died in November 2022, at the age of 34.
Backstreet Boys singer Nick, 43, continued to share footage of his music and family throughout the holidays on social media, and has finally spoken out about his loss.
He uploaded a charming childhood snapshot of himself and his younger sister, clutching each other’s hands as they readied for a swim while wearing matching blonde bowl haircut and broad smiles.
“It may take a lifetime to fully process the loss my family has endured over the years – most recently, with the sudden passing of our sister Bobbie Jean,” he said. “I am absolutely brokenhearted.
“I appreciate all of your love and good remarks. We are reminded once more that life is precious and transient, and that we should treasure the time we have with those we love.”
“I know she is finally at peace with God,” he said. “I adore you, BJ.”
“I’m so sorry Nick, I can’t imagine how difficult this must be,” Sharna Burgess said. “Brian and I are sending you so much love,” an admirer said, while another added, “Life is so unfair.” Nick, I’m very sorry for your loss. Know that you are loved, and that we will always be there for you, no matter what!”
Bobbie Jean rose to prominence as a result of the success of her brothers Nick and Aaron, and she even served as her younger brother’s clothing stylist and cosmetics artist while on tour.
However, the notoriously big Carter family, which was previously the focus of the E! reality program House of Carters, has been bereaved by a number of disasters, including the deaths of Bobbie Jean, Aaron, and middle sibling Leslie, who died in 2012 at the age of 25. Nick, Bobbie Jean, Leslie, Aaron, and his twin sister Angel, now 36, are the siblings from oldest to youngest.
Bobbie Jean is survived by her eight-year-old daughter Bella, who will be cared for by her grandma Jane Carter. While no cause of death has been confirmed, Jane sent a statement to TMZ in December, announcing the news.
“I am in shock from learning of the sudden death of my daughter, Bobbie Jean; and I will need time to process the terrible reality of this happening for the third time,” she said in a statement.
“When I am able to think clearly, I’ll release a fuller statement; but until then I would request to be left to grieve in private.”
“However deeply a parent feels the loss of a child, the suffering of a young child at the loss of a parent must be much greater,” Jane added.
“So, I would ask the sympathetic to say a prayer for my precious eight-year-old granddaughter Bella, who previously lost her father and is now also left without her mother.”
