Following her weight loss medicine disclosure, the talk show presenter looked stunning at The National Portrait Gallery.
Oprah Winfrey looked gorgeous in white as she revealed a new picture of herself by Shawn Michael Warren at Washington, D.C.’s National picture Gallery.
The 69-year-old talk show presenter wore a stunning midi-length gown with three-quarter-length sleeves and a flowing skirt in a pristine white tone. The dress had a flowery corsage accent at the waist and was accessorized with a pair of ultra-chic white leather pointed-toe boots.
The actress had her hair half-up, slicked away from her face, and falling into tight curls. On stage, she was seen raising the cover on the new painting, which depicts a life-size Oprah beaming in a purple gown against a lush backdrop and hugging the painter himself, who was dressed smartly in a navy two-piece suit and shiny croc-texture boots.
Oprah shared the event on Instagram, saying, “God can dream a bigger dream than you could ever dream for yourself.” I had no idea there was a national gallery to aim to, despite all of my goals. Wow, from Mississippi to the National Portrait Gallery in Washington, DC.”
“Thank you to @warrenart for the heart and the love you took in capturing my essence,” she said in a tweet. “Thank you for this honor, Lonnie Bunch, Rhea L. Combs, Kim Sajet, and the @nationalportraitgallery.” And to everybody reading this, I can’t wait to see you at the picture!.”
Shawn Michael Warren also took to Instagram to commemorate the event. “I’m honored to announce that my portrait of Oprah Winfrey is now on display at the Smithsonian’s National Portrait Gallery (@smithsoniannpg) in Washington, DC,” the artist tweeted, sharing an up-close shot of the remarkably lifelike painting. We unveiled the image this morning in the Kogod Courtyard with @oprah, @KimSajet, @Rhea_Combs, and Secretary Lonnie Bunch.
“I am pleased to announce that this commission will be permanently housed in the collection of the National Portrait Gallery.” “I’d like to thank my family, team, friends, and loved ones for their encouragement and support throughout this journey,” he said. “To @dariusl.carter, thank you for giving your lens talent to this life-changing initiative. Thank you to @drflexshow, @neidraj, @khalil_ayed, @futuresaloon, and @joebrocatoofficial for being in my corner and supporting me during this difficult journey. “A special thanks to @laurencebolotin for facilitating the portrait’s initial stages at the Loyola University Museum of Art.”
The party comes only days after Oprah Winfrey made a shocking admission regarding her recent weight reduction. The actress has spoken out against the stigma associated with weight-loss medicine. In an interview with People magazine, Oprah said: “The fact that there’s a medically approved prescription for managing weight and staying healthier, in my lifetime, feels like relief, like redemption, like a gift, and not something to hide behind and once again be ridiculed for.”
Oprah also told People that she has changed her lifestyle to include daily exercise. Varying my weight “occupied five decades of space in my brain, yo-yoing and feeling like why can’t I just conquer this thing, believing willpower was my failing,” she added. “I eat my last meal at 4 p.m., drink a gallon of water per day, and follow the WeightWatchers point-counting principles.” I was aware of [weight-loss] drugs, but I thought I needed to demonstrate that I had the discipline to use them. That is no longer the case.”
Oprah has recently dazzled in a slew of purple ensembles to coincide with her appearance in The Color Purple. She was seen in New York City wearing a lilac jumpsuit and a longline coat after looking lovely in a paisley two-piece suit in a darker shade at a movie screening event at the National Museum of African American History and Culture. Her ombre dazzling yellow and purple jacket was one of her most stunning items.
