Scheana Shay wants Vanderpump Rules viewers to know that all of the credit for her recent weight reduction belongs to Tom Sandoval’s infidelity scandal, not Ozempic.
During the Vanderpump Rules season 11 opener, which aired on Tuesday, January 30, Scheana, 38, highlighted how Sandoval’s affair with Rachel “Raquel” Leviss taken a toll on her body, telling Lala Kent, “You know how many people have asked me if I’m on Ozempic recently? No, it is named Scandoval.”
Ozempic — and similar off-brand versions of semaglutide — have lately gained popularity as Hollywood celebrities describe their experiences with the diabetes medicine. The FDA-approved injections are primarily used to assist Type 2 diabetes patients maintain their weight.
“Ever since I had [my now 2-year-old daughter Summer], I tried not to weigh myself all the time because I didn’t want to become obsessed with the number.” “And then the last two months of my life have just been insane, there’s been a lot going on that has affected my appetite and working out habits recently,” Scheana said on an August 2023 edition of her “Scheananigans” podcast. “So I lost more weight.”
Scheana decided to undertake a random weigh-in, which eventually became a source of concern.
“The other day I pulled the scale out of the closet because I don’t keep it out on display anymore because I don’t ever want to get back into that place,” she said. “I walked on it, and I was thinking, ‘It’s time to increase the meals and weights. I do not want to be in the 1-0s. I do not believe that is a healthy weight for me. It demonstrates what stress and worry do to your body.
The “Good as Gold” performer also chastised those who made jokes about taking Ozempic to reduce weight, saying, “I have had people ask me today if I am on [Ozempic], and I am not. I would not do that. This is not for me. I have other friends who — I won’t name names — have made jokes about it, such as, ‘Well, after my next baby, I will just get on Ozempic.’ And I say, ‘I don’t think that’s what it’s there for.'”
