- 2 cups sugar
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 2 tsps baking powder
- 1/4 tsp cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp nutmeg
- 1/4 tsp allspice
- 1 cup water
- 1 tbsp honey
- 1 cup packed raisins
- 8 oz figs
- 1 cup ground almonds
- 2 1/2 cups all purpose flour
- 6 large eggs
- 1 cup light margarine
Directions
- Cream butter and sugar. Add eggs, one at a time.
- Sift salt, flour, baking powder, and spices (cinnamon, nutmeg, and allspice).
- Mix honey with water and add alternately to first mixture with dry ingredients.
- Add raisins, figs, and nuts. Pour into greased loaf pan or angel cake pan.
- Bake at 375 °F (180 °C) until it tests done (about 1 or 1 1/2 hours).
