Good homemade recipe that has been passed to me from many generations.

Ingredients

  • 2 tsps chili powder
  • 2 tsps garlic
  • 1 large red onion
  • 1 large green pepper
  • 1 can tomato paste
  • 28 oz diced tomatoes
  • 3 cups tomato sauce
  • 1 cup water
  • 4 cups red beans
  • 2 lbs lean ground beef
  • 3 oz splenda brown sugar

Directions

  • Brown and drain beef.
  • Add onion, green pepper, garlic and chili powder. Stir this really good and let sauté for a few minutes.
  • Then add in tomato paste, tomato sauce and diced tomatoes. Let simmer for about 10 minutes.
  • Add red beans and water. Bring to a good simmer and then add the brown sugar (to your taste).
  • Simmer on low for about 1 hour.
  • Serve hot with a little grated sharp cheddar and lite sour cream.
