Ingredients
- 2 cups yellow split peas
- 1 1/2 cups chopped onion
- 1 tbsp black pepper
- 1 tbsp chili powder
- 8 cups water
- 1 tsp sea salt
Directions
- Bring split peas and water to a bowl, strain and rinse.
- Return peas and 8 cups water to the pot and bring to a bowl once again.
- Lower heat and simmer for two hours, stirring occasionally. Add water if necessary and to preference. If you like thicker soup, let some of the water simmer off.
- Add seasonings, chopped onion towards the last 15/20 minutes of cooking.
