There’s a lot of glamor and shine that comes with being a working actor in Hollywood, but Emmy Award-winning actress Ayo Edebiri recently revealed what she was most enthusiastic about: the health advantages.
Ayo, most known for her performance in The Bear, revealed this small truth when speaking with Laverne Cox and E! News on the red carpet at the Emmy Awards on January 15. She was nominated and eventually won the award for Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series.
When asked if she ever anticipated to be honored at an award presentation like the Emmys, Ayo Edebiri delivered a direct but realistic response. “She didn’t dream of evenings like this. “She sort of dreamed of dental insurance,” Ayo told E! News on the red carpet. “We’ve got dentistry, eyes, and ears. We can visit the dermatologist.”
Laverne agreed, remarking, “Dental is so big, right?” The 28-year-old actress happily accepted. “I grind at night.” I hadn’t realized that about myself.”
Teeth grinding is quite prevalent, according to the Cedars-Sinai Blog. One-third of Americans grind their teeth during the day, and one in every ten grinds while sleeping. If left untreated, this can lead to more significant problems, such as TMJ, which causes discomfort in the jaw and temple.
The Abbott Elementary actress also shared some health advise with fans, reminding them to have their skin examined once a year. “Check your moles, everyone. Wear sunscreen, especially if you’re Black, and check your moles,” she said.
While Ayo’s comments are guaranteed to make you chuckle, she’s also providing crucial, even life-saving, advice. According to The Skin Cancer Foundation, preventive yearly checkups are the most effective strategy to identify skin cancer early on. According to the organization, the checks take around 10 minutes and involve a dermatologist to scan individuals from head to toe for moles, sometimes using a magnifying lens. This, paired with self-checks, is an excellent strategy to maintain skin health and maintenance, according to the foundation. Another great approach to protect your skin? Sunscreen. So, Ayo is right again!
