Adan Canto’s representative confirmed to E! News that the actor, who was best known for his performances on the television shows The Cleaning Lady on FOX and Designated Survivor on ABC, passed away on January 8 due to appendiceal cancer. He was 42 years old.
The representative noted that “Adan had a depth of spirit that few truly knew,” and he was right. “Those who glimpsed it were changed forever.”
In the wake of his passing, FOX also paid tribute to him.
“We are heartbroken to learn of the passing of Adan Canto,” FOX’s statement to E! News read. “We are deeply saddened by this news.” We were pleased to have him as a member of the Warner Bros. Television and FOX Entertainment family ever since he made his debut in the United States in The Following more than a decade ago. He is a fantastic actor and a close friend.
In addition to praising the actor for his “artistry, range, depth, and vulnerability” in The Cleaning Lady, the network proceeded by saying, “This is an unfathomable loss, and we grieve alongside his wife Stephanie, their children, and loved ones.” We are going to miss Adan very much.
Canto was born on December 5th, 1981 in the city of Ciudad Acuña, which is located in the state of Coahuila, Mexico. At the age of sixteen, he left his family in order to pursue a career in music. Subsequently, he made his theatrical debut in a production of Pedro Almodóvar’s play All About My Mother.
It was in 2013 when he made his first appearance on American television, playing the part of Paul Torres in the drama series The Following, which was shown on FOX.
X-Men: Days of Future Past, which was released in 2014, Amanda & Jack Go Glamping, which was released in 2017, and Bruised, which will be Halle Berry’s first directing effort in 2020 made the actor’s debut on the big screen.
Canto made two short films behind the scenes: Before Tomorrow, which was released in 2014, and The Shot, which was released in 2020.
His wife and their two children, Roman Alder, who is three years old, and Eve Josephine, who is 18 months old, inherit his legacy.
