Celine Dion has endured several problems throughout the years, most recently being diagnosed with Stiff Person Syndrome, which she first discussed in December 2022.
The My Heart Will Go On hitmaker has taken a step back from the spotlight, having to postpone and reschedule planned gigs in order to prioritize her health, however her sister, Claudette, has been keeping fans updated on her sister’s development through regular interviews.
According to French website Tele 2 Semaines, the 74-year-old recently spoke up about Celine’s problems and how she first noticed something wasn’t right in the summer of 2021.
She stated, “We know she is supported; she is a clever lady, and we are not concerned. We’re not concerned because if it were severe, we’d know about it.”She also stated that Celine was experiencing “leg cramps” before adding that it was “a kind of twisted foot that’s giving her muscle spasms in the leg”.
The “muscle spasm” symptoms began while Celine Dion was in Quebec with her three children in the summer of 2021.
Claudette replied, “I believe she pushed herself too hard, and her muscles are crying out. She provides above her capacity. This is not the first time it has occurred to her. She needs to take a few days off, listen to her body, and avoid pushing herself too hard.”
She subsequently told Paris Match that “Celine isn’t a diva, she’s a wonderful human.” She fought really hard for this return, but she pushed herself too far. It’s always the same: she’s quite hard on herself. Her body is shouting no.
“She is 53 years old.” The perimenopause and the hormonal changes it causes aren’t helpful.”
Celine and her family have had a rough time recently, since her niece Brigitte Dion, 51, was sadly killed in a vehicle accident in the town of Saint-Thomas, in Quebec’s Lanaudiere province.
