Rosamund Pike explains Golden Globes covered lace look: ‘smashed up’ facial injury

Rosamund Pike Accident leading to her veiled look

The Saltburn actress, Rosamund Pike, suffered from a skiing accident weeks before the star-studded awards ceremony.

Rosamund Pike now knows a thing or two about sudden injuries and how fashion can (flawlessly) save the day.

All eyes are on Hollywood’s A-Listers in the coming weeks, as awards season officially began with the Golden Globes on January 7, the first of several award presentations that will culminate with the Academy Awards on March 10th.

The Saltburn actress attended the star-studded event to celebrate her nomination for Best Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture for her role in the Emerald Fennell-directed smash, which was ultimately won by Da’vine Joy Randolph of The Holdovers.

While her bespoke lace headgear received as much attention on social media as her current film part, she explained that there was an ulterior goal behind it.

Rosamund looked stunning at the Globes in a beautiful, tea-length lace gown from Christian Dior’s Fall 2019 couture line, topped off with a structured, veiled headpiece by Philip Treacy.

As stylish as the garment looked, she subsequently confessed to Variety on the red carpet that she was wearing the particular piece – which she characterized as a “protective veil” – to conceal a facial injury sustained in a recent skiing mishap.

Though she looked to have radiant skin and minimal make-up behind the veil, Rosamund explained: “I had a skiing accident over Christmas, and I had to think, you know, not what you want when you’re coming to the Golden Globes on the seventh of January.”

She went on to say, “So on the 26th of December, my face was entirely smashed up, and I thought, ‘I need to do something.'”

Fortunately, she went on to tell that the scrape on her face had healed, but she had already fallen “in love” with the jewelry and continued to wear it.

Fans of the Golden Globe contender enjoyed it just as much, and took to social media to fawn over it, with one writing: “Everything is perfect,” with another following suit with: “It’s amazing.” I adore some fancy hat,” “Such a great style, and she is certainly a movie star in every sense!” and “So editorial!” Love it,” and another admirer wrote, “THIS is what I want to SEE.”
