- 1 medium egg
- 1/2 cup molasses
- 1 oz applesauce
- 1 oz canola oil
- 1/2 cup buttermilk, low fat
- 1/3 cup sugar
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1/4 tsp nutmeg
- 1/2 tsp cloves
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1 1/2 tsps ginger
- 1 1/4 cups flour
Directions
- Combine flour, spices and baking soda in small bowl.
- Lightly beat egg. In large bowl, stir together sugar, buttermilk, oil, applesauce, molasses and egg.
- Add flour mix to wet ingredients and stir well.
- Bake for 25 minutes at 350 °F (175 °C).
- Cut into 4x4 = 16 squares.
