With Chiefs Win Over Bills, Patrick Mahomes Broke Major Tom Brady Record

Patrick Mahomes had more than one cause to rejoice after the Kansas City Chiefs defeated the Buffalo Bills 27-24.

When the Chiefs won the AFC Divisional Round playoff game on Sunday, January 21, Patrick, 28, became the quarterback with the most playoff victories before turning 30. Tom Brady, the former New England Patriots quarterback, had previously held the record.

StatMuse broke the record via X, saying that Patrick now leads Brady by 13 victories to 12.

The highly anticipated game represented the Chiefs’ first meeting with the Bills since their contentious regular-season matchup in December 2023.

After Kadarius Toney scored a touchdown on Travis Kelce’s lateral pass, the refs called an offensive offsides penalty. This action resulted in the points being overturned, and the Bills eventually defeated the Chiefs.

When the game ended, Patrick was extremely agitated, shouting at the officials and throwing his helmet. Patrick also vented his wrath on Bills quarterback Josh Allen, telling him after the game, “Wildest f-king call I’ve ever seen. Offsides on the play were offensive, dude, and f-king nasty.” Patrick later apologized for his statements, adding, “I regret acting like that.”

The enmity was evident on Sunday, when Patrick and his teammates had to avoid snowballs thrown at them by Bills supporters as they rushed to the locker room.

Drue Tranquill, a Chiefs linebacker, called out the supporters who pelted him and Patrick, among others, on Sunday, tweeting on X, “I caught the snowball.” If it didn’t shatter in my hands, I was going to fling it straight back at him. We would also defeat them in a snowball battle. The truth is, my four-year-old tosses a meaner snowball than #BillsMafia.”

Tranquill’s remark was in reaction to a post by Arrowhead Live, a Chiefs page, who claimed on X that the incident will get physical. “Saw @DTranquill bouta post up with a Bills fan that was throwing snowballs at him after the game,” they said in a tweet.

At a tailgate, Bills supporters even torched a photo of Travis’ girlfriend, Taylor Swift. Despite the strain, Swift, 34, Travis’ brother, Jason Kelce, and his wife, Kylie Kelce, all smiled during the game.
