Stanley Tucci isn’t finished visiting Italy! The Emmy and Golden Globe-winning actor will take viewers on a gourmet tour across the country in a new food series.
A year after CNN canceled Tucci’s popular series Searching for Italy, National Geographic approved Tucci – The Heart of Italy (working title).
“National Geographic is all about adventure and exploration, and I am honored to take viewers once again to explore Italy through the lens of food,” Tucci stated in a news statement in late 2023. “In Italy’s many distinct regions there is always something new to discover and I’m more than excited to begin the process in partnership with BBC Studios.”
Before we say goodbye to Stanley Tucci on our TVs, here’s all you need to know about his new food series.
The debut date has not been confirmed, although filming is scheduled to begin in January 2024.
National Geographic is meeting our want for more Tucci in Italy.
“National Geographic is the perfect home for Stanley to share his knowledge and passion for Italy’s people, food, and culture,” National Geographic’s EVP of Global Factual and Unscripted, Tom McDonald, stated. “Our programming aims to inspire a deeper connection to the earth. With Stanley as their guide, viewers will be taken to locations and flavors they have never had before.”
Tucci will go on new gastronomic experiences in Italy. The cuisine show will follow the Winchell star “as he unlocks the distinct flavors that define each region and discovers the rich versatility of Italy through those he meets along the way,” according to National Geographic.
The actor will visit ten locations in Italy, including Sicily, Trentino-Alto Adige, Veneto, Marche, and Lazio. Each week, Tucci will go “off the beaten track to meet fascinating people from all walks of life who will share their stories and the extraordinary dishes that make Italian food the world’s most loved cuisine.”
